(II)

This article completes the considerations made by Stefan Lupu on Henri de Lubac’s ecclesiology from his fundamental studies Catholicism. Social aspects of dogma and Meditation on Church, in the previous number of our review, Theological Dialogue.
Continuing these ideas, the author presents the vision of the French theologian on the relation that Church has to establish with our word. In this step, the Church is regarded as “Mother of unity and of life”, because it is the communion’s sacrament between people and God, and the Mediator of the divine life. In the second part, the author directs our attention to the finality of the Church and to its relation with God’s Kingdom and, finally, presents the model of the Holly Virgin Mary as icon and figure of the maternity and sponsality of the Church. This theology has a great influence on the contemporary theology, thanks its recognition through the Second Council of Vatican and its answers and position in front of nowadays challenges.

Wilhelm Dancă: Biserica şi Statul la Mons. Anton Durcovici

Starting from eighteen declarations of Msgr. Anton Durcovici in the prison of the Ministry of Interior Affairs from Bucureşti, pr. prof. Wilhelm Dancă analyses the relation between Church and State as it result from the declarations of the Bishop of Iasi, underlining the problem of secularism. The author’s intention is to discover how Anton Durcovici opposed to the invasion of the State-Party in the life of the Church, analyzing firstly the soviet archetypal of relation between Church and State, archetypal where there is a difference between status de iure (separation between Church and State and School) and status de facto (the pressings on the Catholic and Orthodox Church), and in the second part the implementation of this model to the Romanian area conforming to his declarations from prison; from this declarations results that the great preoccupation of the communist regime in the period 1947-1948 was to eliminate the presence of the Catholic Church from the public life. In conclusion, the author mentions that the motivation received from Msgr. Anton Durcovici in front of secularization and secularism can be characterized through two words: education and charity.

Ştefan Grosu: About the Missionary Activity of Pope Francis

The paper proposes to show how Pope Francis presents the missionary activity of the Christian Church in Evangelii Gaudium Apostolic Exhortation and Lumen Fidei encyclical using the narrative method of studying. It is specified that this two pontifical papers have the Gaudim et Spes pontifical document as their reference point. Also, Pope Francis did not forget to mention that the red line of messianism crossed the entire Bible. The framework of study is marked by the consumer society, which although brought prosperity, induces a state of selfishness throughout the world.

Maximilian Pal: Orientalium Ecclesiarum. Alcuni principi giuridici sulle Chiese orientali cattoliche

Orientalium Ecclesiarum is noteworthy primarily for its exaltation of the equal dignity and relative autonomy of the Eastern patriarchates and its specific prescriptions for increased communion with the separated Orthodox. While this brief document lacks the extensive ecclesiological discussion of Lumen Gentium and Unitatis Redintegratio, its treatment of these two matters gives insight into how the Council interpreted and applied its ecclesiology. The decree’s treatment of the patriarchates makes clear that the particular Churches are essential to the Church’s constitution. They exist by right, not by concession, and on equal terms as regards dignity and jurisdiction, being answerable to none but the supreme authority in the Church. The Pope is considered only in his role as Supreme Pontiff, not as Latin patriarch, to avoid giving any impression that the Latin Church enjoys any jurisdictional superiority over the Eastern Churches. The relative autonomy of the Eastern Churches would be matched by that of future patriarchates, as envisioned by the Council. Thus the Church might adapt to the diversity of the world’s cultures by organizing herself in the ancient system of patriarchates and autonomous eparchies.
In the post-Conciliar period, only the second aim of Orientalium Ecclesiarum was effectively implemented. There is increased communion in sacramental and extra-sacramental practices between Eastern Catholics and Orthodox, mainly to meet the pastoral needs occasioned by geographic dispersion. Yet the expected restoration of patriarchal status never really occurred, as the Eastern patriarchates tend to be governed under a common rule imposed by the supreme authority through the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, which imposes even the norms of ecumenism and other reforms.

Pablo ARGÁRATE
The new bishop of Rome: a revolution?
To many, Christians or not, Francis, the new Bishop of Rome, brings new fresh air into the world. Francis understands the Church as the “People of God” and wants to decentralize its organization. In other words, the Church has to go out, to everybody, especially to the excluded and marginalized, and bring them the joy of Christ’s gospel. In regard to the Catholic Church, his image of a “field hospital” is a very powerful one. Urgent compassion and care is the main task of the Church. But, Francis’ revolution appears to be a re-focusing of the Church on Jesus’ main message of compassion and mercy.

„Status naturae lapsae simul et redemptae” (gen 3) in man and woman he created them: a theology of the body by John Paul II
In this article, my intention has been to emphasize the role of the postlapsarian protology (Gen 3) in the anthropology enlightened by the mystery of Christ (status lapsae simul et redemptae). I considered the disastrous consequences of original sin, the perspective of death, the appearance of shame, the change in the meaning of nakedness – a change generated by the triple concupiscence in the human heart, the deformation of the spousal meaning of the human body and the disorder produced in the communio personarum, as they are presented in the catecheses of Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body by John Paul II. Finally, from the perspective of the protoevangelium (cf. Gen 3:15), I examined protology and anthropology in the light of Christology, because in Christ it has been historically manifested and eminently revealed who man is and what is his fulfillment.

Anton Durcovici: from cradle to the foot of Calvary

Pontifical Diplomacy. The Holy See and the comunist countries in Central and Eastern Europe

Condemnation of communism in pontifical magisterium. Since Pius IX to Paul VI
The present article, based on several magisterial documents, illustrates the approach of Roman Pontiffs, beginning with Pius IX and ending with Paul VI, with regard to what used to be called „red plague”, i.e. communism. The article analyses one by one various encyclical letters, apostolic letters, speeches and radio messages in which Roman Pontiffs condemned socialist theories, either explicitly or implicitly.

The ecclesiology is an important theme in the Book of Revelation. John presents this portrait of the Church in relationship with God and Christ. From the numerous ecclesiological images of the book comes out the image of the people of God. They are symbolized by twelve tribes of Israel or by twelve apostles. The community lives as a pilgrim in history and will arrive in the escatological Jerusalem, in front of God’s and Lamb’s throne.
This study focuses on the idea of the unity between the God’s people of the old and new covenant. The starting point is the image of the names of the twelve tribes on the gates, like the names of the twelve apostles on the foundations of the holy city (Rev 21:12-14). The combination of the two elements has as background the notion of a single one Scripture. At the final point, it will be underlined the application of the ideal of unity in different sectors of Church’s life.

Body and ethics stands at the intersection of moral theology, anthropology, sociology and even culture in the broad sense of the term. In this article, Professor Violeta Barbu presents an anthropological perspective, the issue of body and of ethics, which has undergone many changes over the past five decades. Starting from the presentation of the Christian vision of the body during history, from St. Paul’s anthropology to the theology of the body of John Paul II, is now revealed the rift between body and soul that evolved to highlight the growing body in society and acquiring an overly important role. One common fronts of the Christian worldview and post-modern, but also a bone of contention, is the importance of body health and off-line medical and ethical
biology. However, two problems are analyzed morally and socially,  euthanasia(mercy killing) and abortion. In conclusion, Prof. Violeta Barbu includes all processes related to the ethical vision issues associated body and the phenomenon of secularization, a phenomenon increasingly entering in our country.

Mons. Roland Minnerath (Dijon, Franţa)
Evanghelizarea şi postmodernitatea
From the beginning, Christianity has interacted with cultural elements that have ensured a greater ease in preaching and spreading the Gospel. Christianity entered a world where religion was part of the culture. Taking the starting points the cultural elements, Mons. Roland Minnerath wants to capture those key points that can be used in contemporary evangelization. First, there are highlighted the Christian elements that contributed to the formation of Western culture. Next, we analyze trends and principles which have replaced Christian culture with a secular culture, a phenomenon that led to the need for a new evangelization. In the last part, are brought to light deficiencies in the post-modern culture, among which the lack of future prospects and human helplessness in the face of death problem.

Prof. Vittorio Possenti (Venezia, Italia)
Biserica şi secularizarea: curtea păgânilor
In this article, the author examines the relationship between secularization and the Church in terms of „the court of the Gentiles” which is inserted in the report delicately between Church and secularization. Liberal democracies, different religions were equated time, that is why the public should take from them a position of indifference and neutrality, this is true for universal religions, which were required to be limited to long private sector. Such democracies have abandoned the Hegelian scheme in which religion is incorporated and abstracted in the evolution of society and true within the state; in Europe, in addition, they are removed the American scheme, in which religion is a foundation independent of the company, remaining separate politics. For all that, a significant change is unfolded in secular thinking of the environments.

Pr. Prof. Dr. Emil Dumea (Iaşi)
Religie şi valori în era globalizării

In this article, Fr. Emil Dumea proposes a reflection on globalization and the influence of this complex phenomenon on religion. The first part is an overview of globalization, which includes multiple spheres of human activity: economic, social, technological, cultural, political, environmental, etc. After this general reflection, the author presents several historical stages of cultural globalization with reference to regional and local examples. In the last part there are opened to question values of the process of globalization in the context in which they differ from one culture to another, from one individual to another, both by training and continuity.

Mons. Marcelo Sorondo (Vatican, Italia)
Secularizarea provocată de ştiinţă

In this article, the author examines the biblical verse „Veritas vos liberavit” – “The truth will set you free” and the pastoral challenges and strategies in the secularization of the Church. The reference point in this study is the relationship between faith and reason, the ratio between them, being two forms of evangelization: from faith to reason, and from reason to faith. Based on this report, the author talks about the conflict between the objective and philosophical reflection in the human practice. In first place, Msgr. M. Sorondo analyzed the neurological sciences and self-interpretation, then talks about conflict in the brain, the mind, the soul and being, and finally to refer the issue of evolution and creation for human beings as a third place of conflict. In the treatment of the subject, the author makes use of both the Bible and the Magisterium of the Church, but also from different philosophers in different periods of history.
